Description:

The Vanessa Lacy Gallery Internship Program is designed to support and educate young people with a love for the arts.

Assisting with marketing to gallery patrons and communicating to building artists via social media and email newsletters.

Adding images to the website store before each exhibition that will occur every other month.

Welcoming gallery visitors, assisting in making sales of artwork, and educating visitors about our artists.

Editing and sending press releases and other marketing materials to promote the gallery, its artists, and events.

Occasional tasks may be required such as buying flowers or printer ink, or delivering or picking up prints within the city limits. There will be reimbursement for miles driven.

Requirements:

Internship requires being present at the gallery during scheduled hours. Gallery hours needing coverage are Tuesday and Wednesday 1-5 pm and Saturday 11-3 pm. Dress is business casual. Some additional hours may be available when shows are being hung or during special events and opening receptions. Timeliness is important as the gallery attendant will be responsible for opening the gallery on time.

Must have reliable transportation. Photoshop and photography skills are a plus, but training on the job is available. Applicants with Word Press website building, marketing, social media, event planning, accounting, and sales experience are encouraged to apply.

The attendant should be outgoing and friendly to gallery visitors. Attendant must have people skills and is expected to initiate conversations with guests and artists at the gallery.

It is not necessary to have experience in the arts. Having business, sales, website SEO and marketing experience are appreciated. Information about the gallery’s artists and the Kansas City art community can be provided during training.
